Bio
I am a logically-minded individual, motivated by my desire to seek out and overcome any challenges I may encounter. I derive great satisfaction from solving problems & puzzles; finding simple but effective solutions to these challenges is especially rewarding. I enjoy being in situations where I'm forced to think critically about an issue and will seek out these challenges in my day-to-day life. My problem-solving abilities are aided by my attention to fine details, helping me discover patterns or mistakes which may lead to a solution.
I also enjoy teaching and sharing knowledge with others, but only when I feel confident enough in my own understanding of a topic. I try to welcome any learning opportunity and incorporate it into my problem-solving.
Experiences
Started working for Orion Health as an intern on a cost-saving project which involved using Java & AWS tooling to reduce cloud infrastructure expenditure across the development line of business. Continued to support this project during the following year as a part-time employee while studying, and eventually, transitioning into a development team developing internal automation tooling for Orion Health software products.
Transitioned into a graduate role after completing University, remaining in the same team, but taking on more responsibilities as a graduate developer. Programming languages used included Java, Ruby, Python, and Bash. These languages were applied while developing server automation using Puppet, Ansible and managed using multiple AWS technologies, including EC2, Cloudformation, Lambda etc.
Promoted to Junior Software Engineer role 8 months after joining as a graduate. Since then, I have been responsible for leading and taking ownership of a number of small to medium sized projects which involved developing tools to improve deployment & upgrade workflows for Orion customers, as well as configuration management tooling for Orion software. This role also entails internal support for our tooling & infrastructure and requires a broad understanding of the full deployment lifecycle as well as server administration on Redhat-based systems.
Worked part-time as a stock clerk while studying. The position involved managing inventory & shelf stock levels, as well as providing assistance to customers in the form of knowledge, directions, and assisting them with heavy items. The role also required us to assist checkout operators when they were shorthanded.
Assisted in a hair salon which had two full-time hairdressers. My responsibilities included serving clients, washing hair, and cleaning the salon & break room.
